Stay Interview

Written for Megan McCann, CEO and Founder, McCann Partners

✋ Show of hands: When was the last time you were invited to do a "stay" interview?

For many companies, "stay" interviews aren't a common practice, but they should be, especially as many managers fear turnover in a tight labor market.

Higher salaries and increased benefits are powerful tools to retain workers, but that's not an option for every business, especially as the market softens.

If your company can't afford to lose the talent you have, the best thing you can do in uncertain times is open lines of communication with your employees and *really* listen to their feedback.

Be open with them about what they can expect down the line and work together to make their career aspirations a reality.
