Be Memorable

Written for Megan McCann, CEO and Founder, McCann Partners

It's not easy for a candidate to surprise me—but if you want to be memorable in your next interview, here's how to do it. ⤵️

A few weeks ago, I was interviewing a candidate for an open position.

She was bright, experienced, and poised; I was considering welcoming her back for another interview.

I said, "Do you have any questions for me?" And, after asking about my expectations for the role and McCann Partners' goals for the future, she asked something wholly unexpected.

"What's your superpower?"

I instantly lit up.

I had written about my superpower of being able to see and recognize the strengths of others right here on my LinkedIn profile.

And this simple, yet unexpected, question told me that the interviewee had done her homework.

She was subtly communicating that she had invested the time to not only understand my company but also what moves me as a leader.

Here's the takeaway: To be memorable in your next interview, do your research then find a creative way to show your work.
